Conference Rules of the 119th Congress

The Rules of the House Republican Conference govern the internal procedures, election of officers, committee assignments, and organizational structure of the Republican caucus in the United States House of Representatives.

Rule I: Name and Object

The organization shall be known as the House Republican Conference. Its object shall be to promote the ideals and principles of the Republican Party and to advance the legislative agenda as determined by the membership.

Rule II: Membership

All Republican Members of the House of Representatives shall be members of the Conference. Each member shall be entitled to one vote on all matters coming before the Conference.

Rule III: Officers

The officers of the Conference shall be the Chair, the Vice Chair, and the Secretary. Officers are elected by secret ballot at the organizational meeting of the Conference for each new Congress.

Rule IV: Meetings

Regular meetings of the Conference shall be held weekly when the House is in session. Special meetings may be called by the Chair or upon the written request of fifty or more members.
